Photography by Bec Shepherd.
Fun project: Bec and I went for a walk, took some photos of the neighbourhood and now I’m drawing desperate and/or homeless animals onto them. These two feature a suicidal cartoon bear about to jump off the Collingwood flats and a homeless Alligator living under the Epping/Hurstbridge train line, begging for gazelle but only receiving loose change.
Bec is going to further enhance this by printing the sketched parts onto card and photographing them separately in a studio setting and then compositing them back together… or at least, that’s the plan. Other concepts include a grizzly bear scrounging through a recycling bin and a pelican perched on a beam in a back alley beside a flooded drain.
